About Dr. Moe Baum
My name is Monica Baum, but friends and colleagues call me Moe. I was born and raised in San Diego, California where I met my amazing husband, Mike.
I started my veterinary career as a technician at clinics which specialized in ophthalmology and emergency/general practice. It was my experience in these clinics that drove me to pursue becoming a veterinarian.
In 2014, I joined the inaugural class at Midwestern University, in Phoenix, Arizona. While some might have had reservations about being the first class in a fledgling program, I was excited to be part of something new and innovative. As a result, I gained a level of experience that allowed me to be “day one ready” when I started my career as a veterinarian.
I graduated in 2018 and moved my family to rural Washington, to a small town most have never heard of! There I had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and expertise in small animal general and emergency practice, as well as mixed animal medicine. I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed the unique facets of each discipline!
In 2020, amidst the height of the pandemic, Mike and I made the decision to move closer to family. This led us to Salt Lake City, Utah, where I joined a small general practice as an associate and was very quickly promoted to Medical Director.
After 2 years of leading and managing an amazing team, the time was right to make the transition into self employment and relief medicine. I look forward to being able to focus more on traveling, relaxing, and spending time with my ever growing family of 4 dogs (Matix, Kylie, Bodi, & Oakley), 4 cats (Mowgli, Monkey, Ash, & Duckie), 1 beta fish, and two dart frogs.
